It has been rumoured that Ross Wallace has turned down a contract offer from Preston North End. Preston offered Sunderland somewhere in the region of 900k for the Scottish winger, in which was accepted by the club. Wallace is currently on a season long loan with the Championship club, his current contract with Sunderland is due to run out in June, meaning he can leave on a free transfer. He is highly unlikely to be offered a return to the Stadium of Light, as new manager Ricky Sbragia is looking to reduce the squad and wage bill. Preston manager Alan Irvine is hopeful he can hang on to Wallace either way, as he has greatly impressed the training staff since joining the club at the start of the season.
