Sunderland in for Icelandic star

A few years ago Peter Reid was a pundit for a Chelsea gamethat involved Icelandic striker Eidur Gudjohnsen, Reid surprisingly revealed that he once almost signed the striker along with Irish star Robbie Keane when he was managing Sunderland.  The deal had been set, fee's agreed between the clubs and agents, all they had to do put was to put there name on the dotted line.  Only for the then Sunderland chairman Bob Murray to get cold feet over the wages the duo would be paid, and pull the plug on the deal at the last minute.

Now Sunderland have once again been linked with striker Eidur Gudjohnsen, after the current Barcelona player has been quoted saying "Returning to England is probably inevitable."
