If you are to believe all the reports in the newspapers, Sunderland's new boss Steve Bruce has been a very busy man.

Middlesbrough and England International Stewart Downing is being linked, Downing spent sometime at Sunderland back in 2003 on loan where he scored three goals in seven games as a left winger.  Many other premiership clubs have been said to be interested in the 24 year old but the temptation of staying at home in the north-east may prove extremely valuable to a reported 15 million pound deal.  Both
Tuncay and Robert Huth are also looking to leave Middlesbrough to keep there international career's alive which may interest the Sunderland boss.

Sunderland have joined in the race for relegated Newcastle United midfielder Alan Smith, reports that Stoke and Blackburn are also seeking the signature of the 28 year old.  Sunderland are also linked with the championship sides defender
Sebastien Bassong, the frenchman was arguably one of Newcastle's best players last season, and will not be wanting play in the lower leagues next season. 

Steve Bruce wants right winger Antonio Valencia to follow him to the Stadium of Light.  The Ecuador international has be a sensation at Wigan since Bruce signed him for Wigan from Villarreal back in 2006.  Valencia agent is due to meet with Wigan officials to discuss the 23 year old's future.
