A sad day for North East Football

As from 3pm today Darlington Football Club offically sign into administration.
George Houghton: "This is a sad day in the long history of Darlington Football Club but was a result of a combination of circumstances compounded by the current economic recession. Football in the lower leagues does not enjoy the financial support of those in the Premiership and the funding gap is widening. More and more clubs are finding it difficult to make ends meet and Darlington is one of a growing list of clubs which has succumbed to financial pressures.Following the announcement the Football League has confirmed that a ten-point Sporting Sanction applies with immediate effect.
