Ball Rules Out Hartlepool Switch

Reports claimed that the 40-year-old was set to move to 'Pools as assitant to another former Black Cat, Martin Scott, who was named the new manager at Victoria Park last week.

"Of course it's flattering when you're linked to clubs but I'm relishing my role within Sunderland's academy at present and I'm looking forward to working with our new intake of youngsters in the forthcoming season," Ball told the official Sunderland website.

"I wish Scotty all the best at Hartlepool and I'm sure he'll be a great success."
