Sunderland striker and the current top English goal scorer Darren Bent will miss the Carling Cup match against fellow premier league outfit Aston Villa. Sunderland manager Steve Bruce spoke today that Darren Bent picked up a knee injury against Birmingham at the weekend, although the injury is only minor, the Sunderland boss is not prepared to risk Sunderland's top striker. Bent should hopefully be fit for the weekend’s league game against West Ham.
Also right back Phil Bardsley is likely to be side-lined with a shoulder problem, new signing Bolo Zenden has 50/50 chance after he picking up a knock.
