Bolton boss praises Sunderland

Bolton are still in the relegation dog-fight with two games to go, and a win against already-safe Sunderland could potentially ensure their safety.

The Wanderers boss is impressed with the way Sunderland have handled their first season in the Premier League since being promoted and believes things can only get better under the guidance of Niall Quinn and Roy Keane.

"I think it's a work in progress at Sunderland," Megson said in praise of Keane's men.

"Roy's taken them up from the Championship, they've established themselves in their first season and now he'll want to kick on.

"They've done well. They've changed the team, brought in a lot of players and finished the season well with very strong home form."

Although some fans regard Keane to be a catalyst for success at Sunderland, Megson is adamant that it's a team effort and praise has to go to the club as a whole.

"It's not about Roy Keane or about individuals. It's about the football club itself," he said.

"Roy's done well in his first 18 months as manager; Niall Quinn has done well in his two years as chairman; the new people who have come on board from Ireland and pumped their money in, have done well, but most of all the players have done well and that's what it always comes down to. It's the players, although Roy has brought those players in."
