Bridges during his early Sunderland days.
The North-Shields born target-man, was a hit in his first stint on Wearside before making a £5m move to Leeds. Injury wrecked his Leeds career where he was eventually loaned out to north-east rivals, Newcastle. His time at Newcastle wasn't successful and he later signed for Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer. 6 months later, Mick McCarthy snapped him up on a free to bring him back to Wearside, but he later made the switch the Bristol City along with Marcus Stewart.

Now at Carlisle, his career looks revitalised. He has caught the eyes of a number of Premiership clubs but has his heart is set on a move to Sunderland, where he would look to aid the Sunderland revival - guided by Wearside legend, Niall Quinn.

"I would relish the opportunity to go back there and be part of Niall Quinn's rebuilding," Bridges, who has had two spells with Sunderland, told the Northern Echo.

"To be part of a set up that included Bobby Saxton again would be absolutely fantastic. He is a great guy to be around and I think they will both do what is best for the club."
