Sunderland have already signed one central defender Paulo da Silva, but issues  with the 29 year old gaining a visa will mean he will miss the beginning of the new season the Paraguay international already has a work permit.  Steve Bruce have revealed his interest in signing Portsmouth centre back Sylvain Distin, currently at Portsmouth who are struggling financially, so an offer for the Frenchman may see him playing in a red and white shirt in the coming season.
