Building Bridges!

Michael Bridges
A coiled spring?

Michael Bridges left the Stadium of light many years ago, tipped to be one of England's future stars, but with a string of serious injuries he has faded away from the footballing world.  I beleive that a football player never looses their skills and Michael Bridges can and will return to the player he once was, he only needs to rediscover the abilty that he already has.

"He hasn't named the team yet, but Stephen Elliott's back training," said the 26-year-old."

"You never know what the manager's going to do, but if I get the go-ahead I'll look forward to getting my first goal."

"It was a hard 90 minutes (at Millwall), obviously you go down there and know what to expect. I think me and Dennis Wise had a few scuffles out there. I got a few good tackles in on him and he got a few in on me."

"That was what I needed. I've needed a good kicking and I've got it and laughed it off."

"The only thing is that I'm desperate for my goal. Scoring in the reserves isn't the same - all I want to do is score in the first team."

"My old man rang me after the game and was a bit annoyed - I cost him a couple of quid on the first goalscorer with that one-on-one!"

"It could have been a whole different ball game if we'd gone 1-0 up, and if I'd had a few goals prior to that I might just have tried to dink him early doors.

"But when you haven't you're scratching at things and you want to run things into the back of the net."

"At the time I thought I'd done the right thing, I'd rounded the goalkeeper and his hand came from nowhere."

"It was the best save I've seen all season! But as long as the team's winning I haven't got a problem. I was in a similar situation at Leeds when I went nine games without a goal. I got 22 in that season after the barren spell."
