Chopra signed with high aspirations from Cardiff City in the summer, but has only managed to bag 3 goals in red and white. However, after teaming up with Andy Reid during a loan-spell at Nottingham Forest a few years ago - he believes the Irish winger has what it takes to improve his tally.

"What helps me is when people find my runs, and in Reid we've got a player who can," he told BBC Radio Newcastle.

"At Cardiff we had Stephen McPhail and whenever I made a run he could find me and hopefully Reid can do this season."

Reid came off the bench during Sunderland's 2-0 win over Wigan at the Stadium of Light, and made an immediate impact after slotting an inch-perfect pass to goal-hero Daryl Murphy.

Chopra wasn't suprised by the assist and believes supporters will see Reid go from step-to-step.

He said: "I always knew how good a player Reid is. His passing ability is fantastic and I believe a lot of our players will benefit from that."
