Could Sunderland stay up....

It goes without saying that the weekends result was 3 of the biggest points Sunderland have earned this season, two players stood out, one being Danny Graham.  Graham a player that has been neglected by the club due to a string of poor performances but looked to be a rejuvenated man, his determination on the pitch was equal to one other, Lee Cattermole.  The captain and the other stand out player played his heart out and led like a captain should; it’s a relief to think he didn’t ended up at Stoke after all!

The result has put huge pressure on the teams above Sunderland - Hull, Leicester, Newcastle and Villa all in the mix.  Also Sunderland having a game in hand over the other teams, granted it’s against Arsenal who will be pushing for that number 2 spot in the league.

Sunderland still has a mountain to climb, the next two games are the most realistically winnable games, Everton this Saturday and then what could be a six pointer against Leicester City.  Arsenal still have something to play for, Chelsea on the other hand have won the league, only having the FA cup to contend with.  Will Chelsea play at full strength? – If they do will there players be playing at full capabilities? Will they play a young squad who will be eager to impress the special one!

But on outlook of the sides Sunderland are up against, Hull, Leicester and Villa are putting in the work and coming up with some good results, we look to our neighbours, Newcastle United who yet again find themselves in dire straits.  The manager publically chastising players, then the players themselves reportedly fighting each other, and the fans and there protests against the chairman.

Could Sunderland not only having taken six points off Newcastle also be a part of relegating them?  Could Newcastle self-destruct mode?

Could Sunderland lose all there games and end up going down themselves? – We have put out some pretty spineless performances this season hence the reason we are in the position we are in now!

Whichever way it’s looked at it’s a nervous time for both North-East teams.
