In what is a thoroughly deserved award, the feeling of Sunderland's boss with be rather mutual with a big game against West Brom coming up on Saturday. It is a well known fact that the majority of managers awarded with the prestigious award go on to defeat in the following game - however, Keane is no normal manager and Sunderland should cruise to victory at the Hawthorns this Saturday.

Keane said: "It's a nice reflection on the team but the award will probably go in the garage, I'm focussing on the team and out match at West Brom.

"There's no point getting an award half-way through the season, it kind of irritates me.

"I'm part of an important team here and hopefully the accolades can go to the players and the staff at the end of the season."
