So this morning reading a major British Newspaper article on their website telling us that Sunderland target Jonathan de Guzman was NOT coming to Wearside. That the player had spoken to Sunderland officials, and he decided he did not like the plan that has been set out by the club for the future.
But by lunch time we got a few other media outlets both here and in Italy reporting that he’s close to signing for Sunderland or has even came to an agreement.
What we do know is that there’s clearly nothing official from SAFC, but de Guzman’s agent has left us with a little detail. The midfielder is not wanted by the Italian side Napoli, he is looking to go out on loan with the option to buy. We aren’t the only club interested, Marseille have been actually mentioned by the agent, papers are also reporting Everton and premiership new boys Bournemouth have hats in the ring.
Only time will really tell where he’s going, this isn’t the first we’ve been this close to signing a player, is not even the first time this transfer window, that is apparently been a done deal then for the player not to sign. – Lets hope Dick can use to Dutch connection to broker the deal.
