Duo injury blow

Wright suffered a hamstring injury and is likely to be out of action for a minimum of three weeks while Rossiter, who replaced Wright at the Reebok, has knee ligament damage and could be out longer.

"It's not ideal to lose two right backs. I turned out whatever team I could because of our injury problems and to lose more is tough. It's fateful," said Sunderland boss Howard Wilkinson.

"This was our fourth away game in 14 days and our fifth game in that spell and it's taken its toll. I'm pleased to get some time until next Saturday's game against Blackburn."
