The Manchester United defender is currently on loan with the Black Cats until the end of the season, but a string of breathtaking performances have steered Keane into persuing another loan deal.

The Sunderland manager would have to persuade United boss, Alex Ferguson, to allow the talented youngster to stay on Wearside for another year.

Evans has now spoken of his desire to stay at Sunderland for another season.

"Would I consider coming here again next season? Definitely," Evans told the Daily Express.

"I don't know Manchester United's plans for me, because I've been so focused on doing my job here and trying to help get them promoted, but I've enjoyed it so much I'd definitely think about staying if they wanted me and United let me.

"I'd rather be playing every week than sitting on the bench. You have to have faith in your ability, but be realistic.

"When you look at the defenders there are at Old Trafford, you have to accept, as a 19-year-old learning your trade, you're not going to keep them out of the team every week."
