Fall of an Angell...sort of

The Lads will have arrived at training this morning with grins as wide as the mouth of the Wear, after doing the business on Walsall last night.

But spare a thought for those footballers who are no longer playing and are forced to scrape together an existence away from the game.

One such player is former Sunderland striker, Brett Angell. The striker, Mick Buxton's last buy for the club way back in the dark ages, endured a miserable time on Wearside, failing to find the net in any of his league outings for the Lads.

Sold on by Peter Reid, he went on to enjoy success at Stockport, Preston North End and QPR to name but some. Angell quit playing last summer and ended up stacking shelves in a well-known supermarket in Southport, says Mirror.co.uk.

He has now moved on, as he looks to forge a new career as a coach. A spokesman for the supermarket said: "Brett is no longer working at the store.

"We were happy to give him a position for what was always going to be for him a short-term measure. We wish him all the best."

As do we.
