Two of Sunderland’s stars where in action tonight for their national side, record signing striker Asamoah Gyan and defender John Mensah who made his return from injury for Ghanna to face Sudan in the African Cup of Nations qualifier.

The game turned out to be a story of both glory and disappoint for the two Sunderland players.  The Black stars dominated for the majority of the game, but could not find the back of the net.

John Mensah playing in the heart of the Ghanaian defence managed to keep a clean sheet, but for striker Asamoah Gyan major disappointment came in the 84th minute as he was sent off for a shove in the face on a Sudanese Defender.
