The 24-year-old left winger has signed from Swedish champions, Djurgardens on a three-year deal.

Hysen - the son of former Liverpool defender, Glenn Hysen - becomes Niall Quinn's seventh summer signing.

Quinn said: "I'm excited about the signing of Tobias.

"He's a good young prospect, a highly-rated international player who I think will do very well in a Sunderland shirt."

Hysen said: "I've always dreamed of playing in England, ever since I remember watching my father play for Liverpool at Anfield.

"He knows all about Sunderland and the passion of the supporters here so I'm looking forward to playing for the club."
