Unconfirmed reports that fan favourite ex-Sunderland star Steed Malbranque has quit football, after playing only 26 minutes for French club Saint Etienne.
Steed has been a major fan favourite at the Stadium of Light, playing some fantastic football for the Black Cats but age wasn’t on his side after Sunderland signing several midfield players in the current transfer window.
Steed has said to have retired due to non-sporting problems, if this is true football in general has lost one of its most under rated players.
