Keane Takes Responsibility

The game started slow with neither side able to break the deadlock. Daryl Murphy left the field on 15 minutes through injury and was replaced by Dwight Yorke. Yorke was greeted with a standing ovation by the red and white faithful. Stanislav Varga had Sunderland's best chance of the first half but he passed the ball delightfully into the Foxes' keeper's hands.

The second half went off to a flyer, when Matty Fryatt broke free of the Sunderland defence and slotted the ball into the bottom right-hand corner of of the net. It was a wake-up call for Sunderland, who were looking for their 4th win in a row. The Wearsiders stepped their game up a gear but were still unable to find the target. Tobias Hysen replaced Liam Miller in the 64th minute and the Swede made an instant impact a minute later when he used his pace to get himself infront of goal, before firing a tremendous left-footed shot into the bottom right corner of Leicester's goal.

Sunderland kept piling on the pressure but couldn't break Leicester down. All-in-all, a draw was a fair result but the Sunderland fans were expecting a much better performance from the team.

Roy Keane took responsibility for the two points dropped and admitted he should have freshened the team up - especially after 3 games in one week.

"It was a tired performance, I take responsibility for that. I thought about freshening things up and I should have.

"Three games in a week is hard for any players, especially in the position we were in. That's my job and I didn't do it really well today."

"I should have freshened things up, I just felt they deserved another game but three games in a week is hard going."
