Keeper on comeback trail

The Norwegian international has managed only three appearances for Sunderland since his signing from Turkish side Besiktas last summer, the last of those coming almost eleven months ago at Bolton.

Myhre picked up a thigh injury in that game and despite numerous attempts at a comeback he has not played since.

However, following more surgery in May, he is now in line for Sunderlands reserves against Blackburn on Wednesday evening.

"I was very conscious to take things slowly because I'd broken down in several of my other comeback attempts," he said.

"Things have gone well this time, I've played in a practice game in training and I'm kicking the ball again.

"I'm maybe not quite at 100% when it comes to kicking, but a lot of that is in the head. My confidence will grow with games."
