Kyle Targetting New Year Comeback

The Black Cats striker, who has not played for almost a year, has undergone surgery in America on his hip injury and is targetting a return to first team training by January.

"It is brilliant news on Kevin," Black Cats boss Mick McCarthy told the Daily Record.

"I spoke to him on Saturday and he was really upbeat and positive about it and still is.

"You don't know until he comes back but he feels great about it. This guy [Steadman] has a huge success rate.

"They are positive he can come back by January. They seem to think he will be back training.

"It is great news for us and even better news for Kevin."
