Local press reports have been quickly rubbished by Sunderland boss Steve Bruce, linking young starlet striker Martyn Waghorn with a permanent move to Leicester city.

The South Shields born striker has been on loan with the Foxes for the entire season becoming the first choice striker due to an injury picked up by Matt Fryatt. The 19 year old who is a massive Sunderland fan has impressed Nigel Pearson during his time at the Walkers Stadium, leading to press rumours that the Foxes have made an enquiry about Waghorn.

But these rumour’s have been quickly thwarted by Sunderland manager Steve Bruce, the Black Cats boss remarked, "There's been no communication between myself and Nigel Pearson and won't come into the equation."

"We sent him there to get some experience a bit like Jordan Henderson and the kid's doing very, very well indeed.

"I wouldn't entertain a permanent move. Next year I have him earmarked as being one my strikers because I have been delighted with his progress."
