Closing the gap!
"We started slowly but I don't think the game really took off in the first half. There were not a lot of chances in it but they started better than us.

But then they are the home team. They are trying to create a tempo and an upbeat performance. We managed to nullify that and in the second half we were the better side.

I hope I'm not wearing rose-coloured specs but I think we deserved the victory.

Had we not won it there would have been some criticism of me playing Marcus Stewart today. I think he was surprised to play but him and Stephen Elliott have been my best pairing.

Partnerships are important on the pitch and Stewy and Stephen Elliott have been a good partnership.

Browny was excellent when he came on at Millwall. He's had a good week's training and I just thought he would give me a bit of extra height, strength and pace. I thought they were vulnerable to that.

I thought our free-kicks had been awful and then Dean Whitehead reminded me afterwards that we had scored off one of them!

The ball caused the keeper problems and Steve atacked it like you'd expect him to do."
