Cardiff boss Malky Mackay insists he has “no concerns” over Fraizer Campbell’s injury record despite the striker spending 17 months on the sidelines at Sunderland.

Campbell completed his £600,000 move to Cardiff earlier this week.

Malky Mackay: “We’ve no concerns about the injury. Fraizer has been through a full and thorough medical.

“We actually spoke to the surgeon who did the operation on Fraizer, we know him through our medical staff, and that helped satisfy us.

“Fraizer has now been fit for a year so I have absolutely no concerns about his fitness.

“He managed to force his way back into the Sunderland team, and he got an England cap.

“It is an injury and a recovery process that a lot of players have been through.

“We were very pleased to get him. He is someone who has been on our radar for quite a few months.

“We had been tracking him and hoping it would come to fruition.

“We were very grateful to Sunderland for the way they handled things. They were great to deal with.

“Fraizer is someone we felt could bring a bit of an edge to the group, someone who could come in and make an impact.

“I’m very pleased he chose Cardiff because he had various other options.”
