One in, One out for Sunderland

Sunderland midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini has today left Wearside, returning to his home country of Italy joining Serie A side Bologna.

Leaving on a season long loan deal, which is no surprise, Dick Advocaat had mentioned in a previous media conference of his desire to compete in other competitions that Sunderland aren’t in.

The 30 year old has had a rough ride on Wearside, coming to Sunderland under huge promise, but didn’t quiet perform, missing out on a World Cup spot in the Italian International side.  An ankle injury then took him out of the majority of the 2015-15 season.

Giaccherini finally got himself back to fitness for this, enjoying some great personally pre-season performances.  But with recent signings that Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat has made, it looks that he will be knocked further down the pecking order.
