Peter Reid back at Sunderland

Peter Reid is coming back to Wearside, as he brings his side Plymouth Argyle up to North to take on Carlisle United this Tuesday.

Reid who came in to power over Sunderland AFC in March 2005, is up there with the late great Bob Stokoe as far as setting marks in the history of Sunderland Football Club.  Although Reid did not manage to gain the club any silverware he did get Sunderland to their highest ever premier league position.   Which went hand in hand with one of Sunderland’s greatest ever strikers if not the greatest, Super Kevin Philips who is the only English footballer to have ever won the European golden boot playing for Sunderland.  He also introduced Niall Quinn to Sunderland AFC first as a player before Philips was on the scene, but Niall is arguably Sunderland’s most important signing ever, when considering the huge amount Niall has gone on to do.

Reid has managed to get the doors open to Sunderland world class academy to finically struggling Plymouth, after pulling in a few favours from his old under study.  The Pilgrims are in big money troubles and it has been reported in the media that Peter Reid is willing if not already has put his Everton cup winners medal up for sale back from his playing days.
