Mart Poom Stats:

Born - Tallinn, Estonia

History:

Mart Poom was initially signed on a two-month loan deal from Derby County to help ease Sunderland's goal keeping crisis.

Poom, an Estonian international, played for Portsmouth before he moved to Pride Park where he became a firm favourite.

Sunderland made his move permanent in January 2003 and he has recently taken over from Thomas Sorensen as the club's first-choice keeper.

Poom has won over 50 caps for his country.

Review:

Without Mart Poom, we would have surely dropped more points than we have so far this season. They say that strikers win games, but Mart has won us games and points on several occasions this season.

Mart is my clear favourite for player of the season. If Mart poom isn't already an all time Sunderland great, he will be. In his short time on Wearside, he has made some stunning saves, scored a cracker of a goal and become a fan favourite. Poooooooom!! World class!
