Red Card Appeal

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is to make an appeal towards centre back Michael Turners sending off against Man City.

Turner was sent off for a raised his arm in a tackle against Garth Barry, but replays have shown that there was actually no intent on the part of Turner as he raised his arms as he jumped for the ball, he never took his eyes off the ball not seeing Barry coming in.

Andre Mariner the same ref that sent Kenwyne Jones off in the game against West Ham got several things wrong according Manager Steve Bruce, the Sunderland boss also admitted that he had wrote to the FA regarding Mariner's refereeing in the West Ham game, and blames that for his very poor decisions against Sunderland.

"I hope he (Mariner) can have a look at it and he can see it was a shuddering challenge between two of the most honest professionals you are going to get."

"The young lad (Turner) got higher. That is the only reason he has caught Gareth Barry."

"You have got to raise your elbows when you are jumping for a ball. I might as well tell my centre-half not to head it next week because he might get sent off.
I hope the referee looks at it again. I doubt it, though."
