But worry no longer, as it’s believed that Kirchhoff was left out of the squad due to a stomach illness, which made him miss out on mid-week training sessions.
The midfielder could potentially feature in Sunderland’s first team match against Leicester City, but more likely that he will make an appearance on Monday night against Wolves.
