Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy is preparing for the new season without some of his star players and Sorensen tops the list of players to be sold by the club as they prepare for a season of First Division football.

"The manager has told me that he expects I will be sold, and therefore he wants to try some other players," the Danish stopper told the Newcastle Journal.

"I'm in the squad but I don't expect I will get any more playing time. It is the coach and the club who decide and that is something which I can't change.

"It is frustrating but it has got nothing to do with my displays.

"Fortunately, there are not many matches left to play, and there is no reason for me to fear for my international place."
