Sorensen steps up comeback bid

Sunderland's Danish international keeper has been sidelined with a dislocated elbow sustained at Arsenal in October.

"I have put a lot into training and I'm looking forward to showing the manager what I can do," Sorensen told the club's official website.

"I want to come back a better player than I was before."

Sorensen realises he will face a tough challenge to reclaim the number 1 jersey with loan signing Mart Poom, Jurgen Macho and Thomas Myhre all vying for the goalkeeping place.

"It's good for the manager to have so many options," said Sorensen.

"We'll all be pushing each other to improve but I want to be in the team. It's a difficult time for us at the moment and the team needs all the experience and talent it can get.

"It's been hard for me to watch, I find watching hard regardless of the situation. I want to be out there on the pitch helping the club, I can't wait to be back."
