The former Huddersfield striker has been far from prolific in his time at Sunderland. Although hard working, he has barely managed to get a handful of goals for the Black Cats.

Derby manager, Billy Davies, has admitted he's taking an interest in the striker who made a £1.8m move to Sunderland from Blackburn in the summer of 2005.

Stead would be brought in to play alongside Steve Howard after Paul Peschisolido was ruled out until the end of November through injury.
