The Sunderland striker was left out of Sunderland's win over Derby but Sunderland boss Keane insists there was no rifts following reports of an argument.

"You can make what you want of it but there are absolutely no disciplinary reasons whatsoever," said the Keane.

"Anthony was left out for the same reason that Ross (Wallace) and Kenny (Cunningham) were. You're only allowed to pick 11 players and have five on the bench.

"Anthony played virtually the full game (at Birmingham) the other night and we felt we would leave him out so that he was ready for next week. I'm sure Ross and Márton (Fülöp) are disappointed as well, but my philosophy is to go a certain way for certain games and that's what happened. It worked, so maybe I have done that part right."
