Sunderland have today announced the permanent signing of long term sought after striker, Fabio Borini.

It’s been a roller coaster of rumours for over a year with the Italian rejecting an offer to stay on Wearside, on the conclusion of his highly successful loan spell in the 2013-14 season.

He was then again linked in the following January transfer window, but nothing came of it.

This transfer window has again been a whole heap of him joining us then not, and then he is…. well this time he actually has done.

Sunderland being the highest bidder, Milan having offered around 7 million, fellow premier league side Watford offering a rumoured 6 million pounds.

Sunderland apparently offered 8 million pounds, which could eventually reach nearer 10 million with add-ons.  Although word on the grape vine is that Liverpool still owe money from there purchase of Goal keeper Simon Mignolet, back in 2013.  There could be some wheeling and dealing going on, but we’ll never know, and who cares.

Borini originally wanted to stay at Liverpool to fight for his place, but was told he was not part of the clubs plans.   It was thought that he would return to his home country of Italy having being linked to both Bologna and then Inter Milan, but late last night and this morning the Facebook messages and tweets where in full flow.

He has signed a 4 year contract, on Wearside so let’s hope he can pick up from where he left off.
