Sunderland keeper to leave.

By Daryl Baker
Wednesday, 17th March 2010
Confirmed himself a summer move.

Sunderland's second choice keeper Marton Fulop has himself admitted that he will be leaving the Black Cats when the summers transfer window opens.

The Hungarian international has made no secret that he wants to play first team football, which he has only had brief spells of at Sunderland. These spells are mainly down to injury's that first choice keeper Craig Gordon has picked up.

Fulop had a lengthy run in the first team when Britain's most expensive keeper Craig Gordon picked up reoccurring injury ankle, this leading to Fulop keeping the number one spot even when Gordon regained full fitness because of some excellent goal keeping performances by Fulop, he was only replace by the big Scot when he picked up an injury himself.

Fulop then had a few more spells in goal most recently when Gordon suffered a broken wrist picked up against Spurs, but then was instantly replaced when Gordon regained his fitness.  Fulop's last game was one of Sunderland most notable this season in the form of a 7-2 thrashing from Chelsea.

Fulop commented, "There's no truth that I'll join Wigan on loan. I smiled when I saw the reports, but it's sure that I leave Sunderland this summer."

"I still don't know where I'd go but I'm sure that I'd like a change."

Sunderland have been linked with several goal keepers over the last few transfer windows causing rumours of Gordon's departure from the Stadium of Light, but the majority of these rumours have been put down to paper talk it now looks that the rumours where pointed towards the wrong keeper.
