Sunderland Ladies part with head coach.

Sunderland Ladies have lost their head coach Carlton Fairweather after two seasons on Wearside.

The 55 year old took over from Mick Mulhern, the coach who got Sunderland Ladies into the top division in 2014.  Fairweather was originally part of the men’s setup in the academy of light, the coach got the ladies to fourth spot in his first season, but struggled in the last.  The ladies did manage to get to the FA cup final, but where defeated but Arsenal.

This departure come along with Sunderland AFC turning Sunderland Ladies side into a part time squad in a view to cut costs.  Because of this Sunderland also lost their top scorer Beth Mead along with other players.

Amber Whitely the development coach is now running the first team, while a new head coach is found.
