Sunderland link to pair

Well another week has gone by and another bunch of rumours have been raised, as we crawl closer to that summer transfer window.

The one that raised my eye brows is that of Dutch super striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy, the ex-Manchester United star who currently plays for German side Hamburger SV was no doubt one of the best goal scorers in the world in his day.  But at 34 years old Ruud is certainly well passed his best, yes there are exceptions to the case and yes Sunderland are finding themselves in a desperate position for fire power up front.  Bruce has been quoted in the press saying that he is looking for a partner for Gyan in the form of a big old fashioned centre forward, someone that can bully defences, and someone that Gyan can feed off.  Although Ruud is over 6 foot tall and has a lot of skills he is not that type of forward, and could only possibly be a bench warmer which I think would be better going to a younger player.

The second and more plausible link is Birmingham’s winger Sebastian Larsson, the Swedish International will be available on a Bosman free transfer this summer although the midlands club have spoken to him regarding a new contract the player has said he does not know if wants to stay.  Sunderland where linked with Seb back in January, if reports are correct the player was ready to sign but the transfer window closed before a deal could be struck.
