Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has revealed why Sunderland's star signing Darren Bent didn't get the number 9 shirt and young talent Frazer Campbell did.
Bruce explained "To me, its just a number, it doesn't matter what your number is, it doesn't make you a better player."
"I don't think anyone should read into it too much."
"It's interesting that some players are completely unconcerned about there number, other players have really strong views about what shirt there wearing."
"The only real issue we had was with the number 9 shirt, Fraizer really wanted the shirt, and asked if he can have it. Of course you can" said Bruce.
"But then we signed Darren Bent who also wanted it, but Fraizer had got in first."
