Sunderland’s young striker Duncan Watmore has been equalled to a young Garth Bale in the making by his team mate and strike partner.
The young striker who has just signed a new four year deal to stay on at Wearside.
Defoe looks at Watmore and sees matches between the young striker and his ex-Spurs team mate Garth Bale, who currently serves his trade at Spanish giants Real Madrid.
“In a funny way he reminds me of Gareth Bale when he came on the scene at Tottenham.
“He used to get on the ball and just glide and if Duncs can do what Gaz has done, then he will be fantastic.
“I am delighted for Duncs that he signed a new deal, he is such a nice lad away from football.
“The future of the club looks bright and there are a couple more youngsters that have impressed me too.”
