Sunderland AFC has today confirmed the sacking of defender Emmanuel Eboue, without him even kicking a ball.

The 32 year old signed on a free transfer at the start of March as back up to Sunderland’s struggling defence problems.  But FIFA have slapped a banning order on the ex-Ivory Coast International, due to payments he owed to a former agent.

FIFA confirmed that the player is banned from playing for 12 months, unless he paid what he owed to his former agent.

The Black Cats where quick off the mark to terminate Eboue’s contract which was until the end of the current season.

The dispute was before he signed for Sunderland, but Sunderland are claiming that the player did not make the club aware of his situation when signing.

Emmanuel has been given two weeks to make an appeal.
