The clash versus West Bromwich Albion at the Stadium Of Light on Monday may well see Kevin Phillips making his first appearance in blue & white. The former Sunderland star looked all set to make a return to Wearside this summer but opted to stay in the midlands and joined WBA from Aston Villa for £700,000.
Meanwhile, it remains to be seen whether Sunderland's new signing from Le Havre, William Mcocquet will make his debut on Monday. The French midfielder is still awaiting international clearance having signed for the Black Cats last Tuesday.
