Waiting on Coates update.

Sam Allardyce has his fingers crossed of the level of injury to defender Seb Coates, and is hoping it is only bruising after the player was taken off against Liverpool.

Coates had to be taken off in the closing part of last night’s match, which in turn put  Billy Jones’ move into the centre back position for the rest of the game.

Big Sam said that the defender will be assessed today, and is hoping that his issue is superficial with both O’Shea and Kaboul out also. .

“Seb had a problem with Vito ran into him in the first half, and that’s probably what the issue is.

“We’re hoping it’s more of a knock; bruising rather than a muscle tear. We’ll wait and see tomorrow and assess it then.”

“It’s a very quick turnaround for the Aston Villa game. They have had a few more days to get ready, but we have to try and recover these lads as quickly as we can.”
