Sunderland went down 4-1 at White Hart Lane, their 16th defeat of the season, and remain one point behind West Ham at the bottom.

"Not one part of me thinks that this situation can't be turned around," said the Black Cats boss.

"Throw what you want at me but you won't change my mind about that - we've got football matches to play.

"Even if I'd known how hard this job was going to be it wouldn't have changed my mind about taking it.

"But if our next 11 games were at the start of a season I would look at them and think 'that's not too bad a start'.

"There is still hope because the games remaining involve teams who are at the bottom with us."
