Collins has played just once for Wolves during his three-month loan deal.
Keane told Sunderland's Official Website: "There's only really one club that's been in touch in terms of taking a player permanently.
"I spoke to Mick [McCarthy] last night and he's looking to take Neill there permanently so we'll see how that pans out."
