Cotterill compensation talks on-going

Cotterill walked away from his managers role at Stoke last week to become assistant manager to Howard Wilkinson at The Stadium Of Light and The Potters are thought to be seeking somewhere near £1million in compensation.

Sunderland chairman Bob Murray is claiming that Cotterill had a clause in his contract that would let him leave for a lot less than that figure.

A Stoke spokesman said: "The two clubs are still in talks at the moment, and I can't reveal any of the details.

"We can't say whether something will get sorted out soon or even this week, as it depends on what and when the clubs agree."
