Gordon: They're a great crowd

Gordon's breathtaking performance against Wigan at the Stadium of Light was rewarded with a chant for him and he appreciates that.

"They're a great crowd, and packed the place out again for what was always going to be a difficult fixture and one we needed to win.

"They showed that they're right behind, not only me, but the whole team, the manager and the whole club, and that is something that we really appreciate, and they've had a big part to play in the run we're on.

"They've stuck by us, and I think that is one of the biggest things you could say about this season, is they have really helped us get to where we are in the table at the moment.

"Everybody knew it was going to be a difficult season for us, but they've turned out in force and backed us 100%, whether it be at home or with big numbers traveling away."

Sunderland's brilliant away support has only been rewarded with a poxy 2 points this season but the £9 million 'keeper reckons it's time that changed this weekend.

He said: "It's about time, we feel as if we're getting closer and we just have to get that first one, and I'm sure many more will follow.

"I think we'll go there confident that we can get something from the game. It's a long journey back for the fans, and for ourselves, so hopefully we can come back with something."
