Hartlepool are said to be sniffing around South Shields born ex Sunderland striker Martyn Waghorn, who has fallen from grace at Leicester City.
Hartlepool has already brought back ex Sunderland midfielder Grant Leadbitter to the North-East, and have academy product Nathan Luscombe who is also a North-East born lad.
